Period pain (Dysmenorrhoea)

Acupuncture is effective at relieving period pains. A recent systematic review found that acupuncture was better then orthodox drugs or herbal medicines in reducing period pain in women.1
I usually recommend weekly treatments for the first couple of months after which the treatment interval can be extended depending on the response to treatment. Needles are usually inserted both in the lower abdomen, legs and feet.
