Breech presentation
One of the more remarkable effects of acupuncture is its ability to turn around a baby inside the womb that is positioned bottom first, or in a breech presentation.
Even more remarkable is that the most effective treatment involves needling or, even more improbably, holding a stick of burning moxa (a Chines herb) over, an acupoint on the tip of the little toe.
Nevertheless numerous studies have confirmed that this treatment works.1
The best time to use acupuncture to attempt to turn a breech presentation is probably between the 32nd and 35th weeks of pregnancy. Frequent treatments are required, ideally daily, but when the herbal moxa sticks are used, the expectant mother can use these to treat herself.
